A home improvement site for people who want to understand the problem first.
Hombriva publishes guides on fixing, maintaining and upgrading a house. We don’t sell services or products, and nobody from here will turn up at your door. It’s information, plus a place for people who know the trade to share what they know.
Most repair advice online is padding.
Search for almost any household problem and you land on a page that is mostly ads, with a cost estimate that says “it depends.” It does depend. But you can still say on what, and roughly by how much.
That’s what we try to do. Say what’s probably going on, what it tends to cost, what an ordinary person can handle, and where to stop.
[Add two or three sentences in your own voice about why you started this site. A repair that went wrong, a topic you know well, anything true and specific.]
What we cover
Flooring, windows and doors, kitchens and baths, and paint are coming next.
How a guide gets published.
- It starts with a question. We pick topics from things homeowners really search for: what a repair costs, why something keeps happening, whether it’s a job you can do yourself.
- Someone who knows it writes it.That’s either our own writers or a guest with real experience in the subject. Guests follow the same guidelines as everyone else.
- We check it before it goes up.The steps, the numbers, and anything safety related get read over. If something looks off, it goes back.
- We come back to it.Costs and products change. When a guide gets out of date, we update it.

What this site isn’t
A repair service
We don’t do repairs, and we don’t give quotes. Nobody here can come out and look at your roof.
A contractor directory
We don’t rank or recommend local businesses. For that, ask neighbors and check licenses and reviews yourself.
A replacement for a licensed pro
Electrical, gas, structural and roof work can hurt people. We’ll say when it’s time to call someone. See the disclaimer.
Some of this is written by guests.
We accept articles from contractors, inspectors, specialists and home writers who know their subject. Sponsored posts are labeled as sponsored, and every submission is reviewed before it goes live. The details are in our Editorial and Sponsored Content Policy.
