Editorial and Sponsored Content Policy
How articles get onto Hombriva, what we expect of them, and how we handle guest posts, sponsored posts and mistakes.
Last updated: [Month Day, Year]
Our commitments
Every article is for readers first. Sponsored content is always labeled. Paying us doesn’t change the facts or the safety advice in an article. And when we get something wrong, we fix it and say so.
1. Who this applies to
This policy covers everything published on Hombriva: articles written by our own team, guest posts from outside contributors, and sponsored posts. Editorial oversight is handled by [Your name, or “the Hombriva editorial team”].
2. The three kinds of content
- Staff articles are written by our own writers or editors.
- Guest posts are written by outside contributors who know the subject. We review them and decide whether to publish.
- Sponsored posts are paid placements. They’re clearly labeled and follow the same standards as everything else.
3. What every article must meet
- Useful. It answers a real question a homeowner might have.
- Accurate. Facts, steps and numbers are correct to the best of our knowledge. Statistics, studies and prices are linked to a source where we can.
- Original. No plagiarism, no copied or lightly reworded material.
- Safe. Risky jobs are flagged, and we say when to hire a licensed professional.
- Honest about costs. We give ranges and explain what affects them, not made-up exact figures.
- Not a sales pitch. Brands can be mentioned when it helps the reader, but an article can’t be an advertisement.
4. How we review
Before an article goes live, an editor reads it for accuracy, clarity, originality and safety. We may edit for style and length, ask the author to fix problems, or decline to publish it. We can also remove an article after publication if we find it doesn’t meet these standards. Our Write for Us page has the full guidelines for contributors.
5. Use of AI tools
Articles must be written by a person with real knowledge of the subject. Authors may use AI tools for research, outlining or editing help, but they are responsible for every fact, and unedited machine-generated text is rejected.
6. Sponsored content and links
- Sponsored posts carry a visible label such as “Sponsored” so readers know the article was paid for.
- Links in sponsored posts are marked rel=”sponsored”.
- Paying for a placement doesn’t buy control over our editorial decisions. We can edit, decline or remove sponsored content that doesn’t meet our standards.
- We don’t promise search rankings, traffic or the lasting value of any link.
- Where a paid or affiliate relationship affects what we publish, we’ll say so.
Prices and terms for sponsored posts are on our Sponsored Posts page.
7. Guest contributors
Contributors give their name and a short bio, and may include a link to their own site. Their views are their own. We check submissions against these standards, but we can’t independently verify every claim a contributor makes. See our Disclaimer for more.
8. Images and sources
Images must be original or properly licensed. When an article relies on data, a study, a code requirement or a manufacturer’s guidance, we expect a link to where it came from.
9. Corrections and updates
We get things wrong sometimes. If you spot a mistake, tell us and include the article link. We’ll review it within [3 business days], fix confirmed errors, and note significant corrections on the article. We also revisit older guides when costs, products or best practices change.
10. Removal requests
If you believe an article contains your copyrighted material, personal information, or a factual error about you or your business, contact us with the link and the details. We’ll look into it promptly.
